Denim Blues
While winter can give rise to navy and midnight blues, spring suggests a hue reminiscent of washed denim. "These reflect catwalk-trending colors and offer a refreshing alternative to traditional pastels," says Ami Streets, session manicurist for Kure Bazaar. "Cool, airy color stories evoke clear skies and coastal calm, which makes them especially appealing as we move into the new season."
Delicate Florals
Floral designs have long been indicative of spring, but Bello explains that they're appearing softer and more delicate this year, not unlike pressed flowers. "Tiny hand-painted blooms, barely-there petals, and use of negative space," are among the manicurists' recent observations. Bello adds that elegant flower art looks beautiful over a milky or sheer, natural pink base.
Earthy Hues
Streets names muted sage, earthy olive, and pistachio-leaning greens as tones to watch out for in the coming months. Reflective of spring's feeling of renewal, she explains that shades which feel organic, calming, and modern are ideal for those seeking color, without going too bold.
Soft Squares
"Short, super-well manicured nails are officially in for spring," says Bello, who has noticed clients swapping their signature almond shapes for softer, rounded squares lately. Paired with any gel color and glossy topcoat, a square manicure feels fresh and effortless. "The shorter length makes everything look more intentional, more editorial, and it’s the perfect canvas for current trends," adds Bello.
Sophisticated Stripes
Spring designs are favoring thoughtful over loud, or as celebrity manicurist Michelle Humphrey puts it: "Playful but polished - more fashion week than festival." Minimal, ultra-fine stripes offer the ideal starting place for anyone easing themselves back into color in a refined way. Bello suggests opting for contrasting palettes where colors are married together; this will make patterns feel more wearable.
Pearl Pigments
According to Streets, pearl nails will be a lasting trend. "Soft, pearlescent gels or micro-sheen finishes give nails a gentle glow without being flashy. So, they're ideal for a minimalist after a luxe vibe." For an understated effect, nail illuminators can be mixed with soft white colors. "Brightening pigments make natural nails look healthy," concludes Streets.
Butter Yellow
Fans of last summer's butter yellow will be pleased to see a revival. A softer shade than neon yellow but warmer than cream, Humphrey calls this color not only flattering but also optimistic as we move into brighter days. "It's the perfect bridge between neutral and statement, and looks chic on short, glossy nails."
